WHY CAN DARK SKIN BE DRY?

We often hear that dark skin is drier than other types of skin. That is a misconception In fact, its hydrating power is as strong as that in other skin types. However, dark skin is naturally more used to tropical climates which are more humid. In temperate climates, where the air is drier, dark skin tends to retain less water: it is dehydrated.

When the skin is not sufficiently hydrated, feelings of discomfort may occur, itching on the face, body or on the hands, knees, feet ... The skin may then become rough, irritated or sensitive.

There are other reasons for dry skin. Hard water in the shower or bath can damage the skin barrier. Also, exfoliation to remove dead skin cells should be gentle and should not be done too frequently to avoid skin damage. In any case, moisturizing your skin every day is an essential beauty step.
